About VMPS:
Virginia Mechanical Preservation Society is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving, restoring, and publicly showcasing Virginia’s rich mechanical, industrial, and transportation history. With headquarters in Goshen, Virginia, the organization has transformed the ruins of the town’s former Victoria Iron Furnace into Victoria Station, revitalizing a long abandoned industrial site and establishing a hub for scenic steam rail tourism in the heart of Virginia’s Blue Ridge Mountains.
VMPS intentionally takes a broad approach to historic preservation, and therefore has a wide scope of operations. VMPS’ collections include: steam locomotives, diesel locomotives, railcars, cabooses, steam shovels, steam engines, antique tractors, crawlers, World War II heavy machinery, antique automobiles, historic machine tools, and a full setup of vintage carnival rides. To inquire about donating your own piece of mechanical history to our cause or to just learn more about our operations, please send us a message.
